5 Reasons it is best to NOT look up for storage options.
Many homeowners store household goods in their attics, thinking it's safe. This may or may not be a good plan.
1. Trusses are not designed to carry weight on top of the bottom chords, the ceiling joist portion of the truss.
2. Storing perishable items--items that may be damaged by or degraded by high heat is not a good idea; think melted Christmas candles.
3. A lot of movement in the attic can create nail pops in your ceiling.
4. Insulating value will be greatly reduced.
5. Your attic isn't designed for you to be hunting up there for your stored stuff--see reasons 1, 2 and 3.

This pamphlet provides basic facts about lead and information about lead safety when work is being done in your home, your building, or the childcare facility or school your childern attend.


It's the Law! Federal law requires that individuals receive certain information before renovating six square feet or more of painted surfaces in a room for interior projects or more than twenty square feet of painted surfaces for exterior projects in housing, child care facilities and schools built before 1978.
