5 No Cost Things You Can Start Doing Now for Your Kitchen Remodeling Project

It has been a couple of weeks since our record snow storms, and finally the snow is melting. Lots of time spent at home, usually gets me thinking about my next project. If you are like me, and are thinking about re-doing your kitchen, here are five easy things to get you started on the path to having the kitchen you always wanted.

1. He/she who "wears the apron" is a good person to chat with about the what, where and why when considering a new design/layout for your kitchen remodeling project. Folks who 'wear the apron', share, from personal experience, what they love most and what they hate about their kitchens. So, talk with your neighbors, family, and friends.

2. Even more helpful is to have the opportunity to speak with someone who has recently been through the process of kitchen remodeling. I've had the pleasure of working with homeowners who were very meticulous in visualizing the layouts of their kitchens. Their meticulous efforts--from telling us what they wanted to achieve, asking questions, reviewing cabinet layouts, viewing 3D renderings from several perspectives--just to name a few, and our own "persnickety-ness" for details helped them achieve the kitchen of their dreams.

3. Keep in mind, if you 'wear the apron' in your home and are ready to remodel your kitchen soon--now is a good time to start assembling photos and ideas from magazines that are representative of the kitchen styles you like.

4. Consider generating a list of your frustrations you experience regularly in your kitchen. Jot them down and keep the list posted on your refrigerator where you can add to it as you think of more things that bug you about your current kitchen. From this list, we can establish design goals for your new kitchen.

5. Complete a comprehensive kitchen questionnaire with Joanne.
